MANILA, Philippines — De La Salle couldn’t wait to get back on the court following its loss to University of the East last Saturday.

And it showed with Letran paying the price.

“We just really wanted to redeem ourselves in today’s game,” said DLSU’s starting power forward Nortbert Torres, who scored seven points and grabbed 12 rebounds.

“Our game against UE wasn’t our regular game. I guess you can say that it was hard for us to sleep after that game. We really wanted to get this win.”

Coach Gee Abanilla admitted that his players failed to match the Red Warriors’ effort and it cost them the game.

“That game against UE as Norbert mentioned was really hard to swallow because we were outworked, we were outhustled and it boils down to who wants it more in that game. I saw them give the effort but not as much as UE did, it’s a good thing it happened early,” Abanilla said.

But Monday night was a different story for La Salle as it outworked Letran on both ends — limiting the Knights offense to just 26% from the field. La Salle also outhustled their opponent on the boards with a 50-34 rebounding edge.

Apart from that, the Archers also assisted on 18 of their 21 field goals which Abanilla commended.

“We used that loss to further improve ourselves so the mind-set should be always there because everybody in this league is a competitor.”
