MANILA, Philippines — La Salle has tapped a new head coach in Juno Sauler, three weeks before the start of the UAAP Season 76, a university official said on Saturday.
Sauler replaces Gee Abanilla, who took over the coaching reins for the Green Archers’ only last season, in a surprising move.
The basketball tournament opens in June 29, with La Salle facing University of Santo Tomas in the main game of the opening double-header.
La Salle is set to make an official statement, according to the school’s representative to the UAAP board Henry Atayde.
Under Abanilla, the Green Archers reached the final four in season 75 but lost to Ateneo, which had a twice-to-beat edge, in the semifinals.
