2 football legends join Clear Dream Match

TWO FOOTBALL legends are adding glamour to an already star-studded cast that will play in the Clear Dream Match 2013 next month.

Former World Cup winner Fabio Cannavaro of Italy and ex-Chelsea captain and England international Dennis Wise will be seeing action in the match pitting teams of PH standouts Phil and James Younghusband.

Cannavaro was skipper of Italy’s World Cup winning side in 2006, the same year he was also named Fifa World Player of the Year—the only defender to pull off the feat in recent years. Wise was a decorated player for Chelsea, having won a couple of English Cups, and appeared for England 21 times from 1991 to 2000.

The two legends will be part of the pool of players that will be drafted by the Younghusband brothers into their teams. Team Phil crushed Team James, 5-1, in last year’s event.

“This doesn’t happen very often and a great opportunity to play alongside a World Cup winner,” said Phil Younghusband.

The venue will be announced next week.

“We wanted to shake things up this year by bringing in two football legends with our country’s best,” said Clear Philippines brand manager Drew Copuyoc yesterday.

Football enthusiam fans and young aspiring footballer try not to miss this opportunity, Such legends does not graze on our soil often as it only happens once in our life time like we experienced Maradona here in his young days
Cannaravo is a world class defender in his days, like his predessors, Gentile, Franco Baresi, where Italy is renowned for its invention of man to man marking utlra defensive formation position.
Denis Wise an accomplished English football player made his name during his stint in Chelsea, When he was with Wimbledon, he was part of Wimbledon famous ‘ Crazy Gang” where even clubs with the likes of Manchester United moan at their crunching tackles.
I still remembered a picture in the news spread worldwide, where it shows Vince of Wimbledon crouching/squeezing Newcastle Gazza balls in an of the ball incident
