Super Liga: Army nips PLDT in thriller

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine Army scraped past PLDT MyDSL, 25-14, 24-26, 25-23, 19-25, 15-10, in the Philippine Super Liga (PSL) women’s volleyball invitational Sunday night at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

Michelle Carolino registered 18 points to help the Lady Troopers chalk up their third straight win after falling short against the Cagayan Valley Lady Rising Suns in the opener.

The Speed Boosters reeled to their third defeat in four stints despite a game-high 20 points from Pau Soriano.

Army trailed, 8-9, in the deciding set before riding on Mary Jean Balse, who did most of her damage late, to get them over the hump.

The Lady Troopers share the same record with the Lady Rising Suns but gain the upper hand for the top spot due to a better quotient.
