Cagayan defeat Air Force in four sets

MANILA, Philippines — Cagayan needed four sets to defeat Philippine Air Force, 25-22, 17-25, 25-14, 25-19, Friday in the 10th Shakey’s V-League Open Conference.

Former University of Santo Tomas stalwart Angeli Tabaquero sizzled with 21 points for the Lady Rising Suns, who bucked an error-prone outing to score their opening victory.

Cagayan, toting a stacked lineup, gifted Airforce with 31 points on efforts as it also dropped the second set, 17-25.

But last year’s finalists, who also drew 20 points from Kannika Thipachot, bounced back hard in the third set and never looked back from there.

Judy Ann Caballejo, another former Tigress, had 18 points, 14 off kills, for the Airforce.
