Huey, partners advance

FILIPINO ace Treat Huey scored double victories in the US Open Friday, reaching the third round in the men’s doubles and the second round in mixed doubles.

Huey and  long-time partner Dominic Inglot of Great Britain  disposed of Daniele Bracciali of Italy and Lukas Diouhy of Czech Republic, 6-3, 6-3, to advance against the winner between Chris Guccione and Bernard Timic of Australia  and Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez of Spain.

Huey also scored in the mixed doubles with American Raquel Kops-Jones as they  hurdled Victoria Duvall and Donald Young of the United States, 2-6, 6-4 (10-6).


Huey and Jones will next face eighth seeds Liezel Huber of the US and Marcelo Melo, who ousted Sania Mirza of India and Horia Tecau of Romania, 4-6, 7-6 (12-10), (10-4),
