Adamson, NU beach volleyball pacesetters
NATIONAL University and Adamson stayed perfect yesterday to move within a win of an outright finals stint in their respective divisions of the UAAP beach volleyball tournament at UE Caloocan sand court.
The Bulldogs, bannered by last season’s MVP Edwin Tolentino and Josephenry Tipay, downed University of the Santo Tomas’ Mark Alpapara and Kris de Guzman, 21-16, 21-14, to streak to their sixth victory in men’s play.
Led by Sheila Pineda and Amanda Villanueva, the Lady Falcons bested Lady Bulldogs Dindin Santiago and Mina Aganon, 21-8, 21-15, for a 6-0 card.
A team that sweeps the eliminations will jump straight to the finals with a thrice-to-beat advantage, leaving the next three teams to fight for the last title berth in a stepladder semifinals.
Defending women’s champion UST (5-1) and Ateneo (4-1) earned semifinal slots after drubbing separate foes.
