MANILA, Philippines — Just how high is Terrence Romeo’s ceiling?

Though he is way short of matching his high school career high, Romeo continues to defy his limits, game after game, in the UAAP men’s basketball tournament for Far Eastern University.

Romeo eclipsed his college-best output, the one he set not even a week ago, again on Wednesday by dropping 33 points in the Tamaraws’ 87-69 blasting of University of the Philippines.

The prolific scoring guard, who unleashed 83 points win in 2009 for the Baby Tamaraws, hit his third 30-point game of the season and towed FEU to at least a playoff for a twice-to-beat bonus.

“He worked hard for that,” said Nash Racela of his prized cog. “Terrence will always be Terrence. He’ll have his good days; he’ll have his bad days.”

Yes, Romeo isn’t known for the smartest shot selections on the floor, but on his best night, he could single-handedly torch any team getting on his way.

But against the Maroons, it wasn’t just him who did damage. Mike Tolomia added 15 points for the Tamaraws, Roger Pogoy with nine, while RR Garcia with eight.

“Kanina medyo gigil ako nung first quarter. Nung na-involve ko na teammates ko, mas lumuwang depensa sa’kin at mas nakadiskarte ako ng maayos,” said Romeo who had nine rebounds, five assists, and two steals.

Racela commended Romeo’s effort to get his teammates involved in the Tamaraws’ last two victories after dropping the bulk of their assignments in the second round.

“[The past few games] he took less shots. I think that part of the progress he’s going through. He’s still giving the team what we need from him [rebounds and assists],” said the soft spoken mentor.
