Coast Guard to award enlisted men in PH Dragon Boat team

MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine Coast Guard will honor on Monday three of its enlisted personnel who are members of the victorious Philippine Dragon Boat Team.

Lt. Cmdr. Algier Ricafrente, PCG public information office chief, said the Coast Guard Outstanding Achievement Medal and Ribbon will be bestowed on Seaman Second (SN2) Perlito A. Idorot, SN2 Raymond B. Morales and SN2 Junrey D. Dayumal during the flag-raising ceremony at PCG headquarters in Manila on Monday.

The Philippine Dragon Boat Federation Team competed in the International Dragon Boat Racing Championship held in Tampa Bay, Florida from Aug. 2-7. The team brought pride to the country by winning five gold and two silver medals.

Meanwhile, Ricafrente said the PCG will be drumming up support for its personnel who would be competing in various categories in the Southeast Asian Games in November.

The PCG personnel men will be competing in seven categories, particularly Dragon Boat, Diving, Judo, Muay Thai, Sepak Takraw, Track and Field and Softball.

The Philippine’s participation in the upcoming Southeast Asian Games is hoped to bring yet another honors to the country, the PCG said.
