TMS-Army guns for PSL volley title vs Cignal today

TMS-PHILIPPINE Army,  the inaugural Invitational champion, guns for the women’s title of the Philippine Super Liga Volleyball Grand Prix today against surprise finalist Cignal at Ynares Arena in Pasig.
With a lineup reinforced by Japanese Yuki Murakoshi and Thai Wanitchaya Luangtonglang, powerhouse Army will enter the 1:30 p.m. encounter the overwhelming favorite after crushing Cignal in the eliminations, 25-5, 25-18, 25-20.

PLDT MyDSL and Systema dispute the inaugural men’s championship in the opening match at 11:30 a.m.

Army coach Rico de Guzman said he did not expect lightly regarded Cignal to beat eliminations topnotcher PLDT MyDSL in the semifinals.

But Cignal upheld its reputation of stepping up in big games as the HD Spikers also made the Invitational finals via the backdoor.

The Speed Boosters eventually salvaged third place after a 25-17, 25-21, 25-23 win over Cagayan last Wednesday.

Cignal coach Sinfronio Acaylar will lean on Chinese power-hitters Xie Lei and Li Zhanzhan and a hard-working local crew featuring Angelique Dionela, Relea Saet, Michelle Datuin and Maureen Penetrante-Ouano.
