La Salle, UE battle to a stalemate in UAAP football
MANILA, Philippines—La Salle and University of the East fought to a 1-1 stalemate on Thursday in the UAAP season 76 men’s football tournament at FEU-Diliman pitch.
Rookie Ariel Mallen struck first for the Red Warriors a minute into the first half injury time before Green Booters’ Gio Diamante equalized shortly after.
Sabin Bustamante had a chance to give La Salle the upper hand but missed on a clear chance in the 70th minute.
The draw was only good for a point for the Green Booters as they blew a chance to seize solo second place with 14 points.
UE, meanwhile, settled for fourth place with 12 points after a second consecutive draw.
La Salle trails second-running University of the Philippines (15 points), while UE holds the fourth spot ahead of University of Santo Tomas (10 points).
Far Eastern University is still at the top of the table with 18 points.
