La Salle, Ateneo seal title showdown in UAAP baseball

MANILA, Philippines—La Salle and Ateneo set up a showdown for the UAAP season 76 baseball crown after the Green Archers and Blue Eagles put away separate opponents Sunday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Ateneo earned a crack as a repeat in the title round with a 14-4 win over University of Santo Tomas, while La Salle arranged a date with its rival with a 14-11 win over University of the Philippines.

Adamson, meanwhile, dashed last year’s finalist National University’s title aspirations with a 6-4 triumph as the Bulldogs finished with a 3-5 card.

At 7-1 and 6-2, respectively, La Salle and Ateneo are unreachable with only two games left in the eliminations.

With a six-team field, tournament format calls for the top two teams after the eliminations to duke it out in the title round in a best-of-three series.
