Lance Armstrong case back in court over bonuses

DALLAS— Lance Armstrong’s attorneys say a Dallas company can’t reopen a settlement over millions in bonuses it paid him even though he later admitted to lying about using performance-enhancing drugs.

SCA Promotions wants to reopen arbitration over about $12 million in bonuses it paid after three of Armstrong’s Tour de France victories. Armstrong’s attorneys argue that arbitration settlement was final and can’t be revisited.

Both sides argued Friday before Judge Tonya Parker, who is expected to rule next week on whether the original arbitration panel still has the authority to review the case, as SCA Promotions has argued.

Several lawsuits have been filed against Armstrong, the disgraced cyclist was stripped of seven tour victories and given a lifetime ban from sports in 2012.
