Scribes torch PSC team

MANILA, Philippines–The Tigerscribes leaned on the record-setting performances of Cedelf Tupas and Diego de la Paz to beat guest team Philippine Sports Commission, 71-50, and grab the solo lead in the PSA-PSC Pakitang Gilas Basketball League Willie Caballes Cup Season 3 Thursday at Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

Tupas scored 37 points to break the league’s previous mark of 33 while De la Paz grabbed 31 rebounds as the Tigerscribes posted their second win in the tournament presented by the Philippine Sportswriters Association and the Philippine Sports Commission.

De la Paz, who writes for the Business Mirror, also had 15 points while the Inquirer’s Tupas dished out six assists in the league also backed by PRC, Milo Best, ACCEL and Magnolia Purewater.

Spin.ph’s Karlo Sacamos had seven points and five rebounds, broadcaster Chiqui Reyes added seven points, eight rebounds, seven assists and four steals while Remate’s Elech Dawa blocked five shots for the Tigerscribes.

The Tigerscribes began their title bid with a 58-46 win over the defending champion Charlie’s Dymons last Monday.
