PH drag racing slated Saturday

MANILA, Philipines — The country’s quickest drivers flock to Batangas again Saturday for the second leg of the 2014 Petronas Philippine Drag Racing Championship Southern Series at Batangas Racing Circuit Drag Strip.

Defending champion Jonathan Tiu of JCT-Blanche Racing guns for a back-to-back Quick 8 victory and his third straight for the year in the event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines and sponsored by Petronas, M &H Tires and Racing Beat at Wave 89.1.

Tiu steered his Nissan R35 to two record-breaking feats, lowering the BRC Drag Strip track record to 9.091 seconds in the kickoff of the Southern Series.

In the last race at Clark International Speedway, Tiu broke the eight-second barrier as he brought the Philippine drag racing record to 8.806 seconds.
