Filoil Premier Cup caging gets going Wednesday
Unveiling a record field, the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup unfolds today with 43 basketball teams clashing in three divisions in the country’s biggest preseason tournament.
The league’s ninth edition fires off with five matches in the juniors and women’s divisions starting at 10:45 a.m., before seniors action starts this Saturday featuring UAAP champion La Salle and four-time NCAA king San Beda in separate battles.
“We’re giving opportunity to a lot of teams,” said tournament director Joey Guillermo in the PSA Forum yesterday at Shakey’s Malate. “Before it’s just the UAAP and the NCAA; now we’re opening our doors.”
The juniors match between San Sebastian and University of Santo Tomas opens hostilities at 10:45 a.m. at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
