Air Force Spikers ground Ateneo Lady Eagles to complete semis
MANILA, Philippines — Philippine Air Force completed the semifinals cast following a 25-20, 25-22, 25-22 shutout of Ateneo in a playoff in the Shakey’s V-League Season 11 Open Conference Tuesday at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
Former University of Santo Tomas spiker Judy Caballejo led the Air Spikers, who joined Philippine Army, PLDT Home Telpad and defending champion Cagayan Valley in the semis, with 11 points.
Air Force will take on Army in a best-of-three duel on Thursday.
The loss ended the Lady Eagles’ unbeaten run where they have won all five of their quarterfinals’ matches before running into a steadier Air Spikers team.
Alyssa Valdez topped all scorers with 18 points for Ateneo, which shot itself in the foot with a handful of unforced errors.
