San Carlos, UV pace SBP-Passerelle in Visayas regionals
University of San Carlos and University of the Visayas won two games each to pace their respective divisions in the Visayas Regional Finals of the 2014 BEST SBP-Passerelle Twin Tournaments sponsored by Milo at Capiz Gym in Roxas City over the weekend.
In the Small Basketeers Philippines division, USC edged Ateneo de Iloilo, 31-30, and trounced St. John’s Institute-Bacolod, 53-38, to gain a finals berth.
In other SBP games, Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion of Roxas City nipped St. John’s of Bacolod, 39-38. It was Purisima’s first win in the history of the Visayas Regional finals.
Ateneo bounced back by trashing Purisima, 74-27, to tie their victims at 1-1.
In the Passerelle division, UV fended off University of St. La Salle-Bacolod, 36-32, and cruised to a 56-21 romp over Purisima of Roxas. UV and Hua Siong College-Iloilo will dispute the championship.
