MANILA, Philippines — The Manila Mavericks will be minus Maria Sharapova as they continue their quest for a first win in the inaugural leg of the International Premier Tennis League.

Sharapova, the world No. 2, won’t be with the Mavericks when they take on the Singapore Slammers in the final day of the IPTL on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena here.

“No, unfortunately,” said the Russian beauty when she was asked about possibly playing again with her team needing a win.
