UV Lancers nip USC Warriors, win 3rd place in PCCL

MANILA, Philippines — University of the Visayas claimed third place after outduelling fellow Cebu-based team University of San Carlos, 63-60, in the 2014 Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) Monday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Diminutive guard John Abad came up with the biggest plays to finish with 19 points and four steals for the Green Lancers.

The Warriors grabbed a 58-55 lead with under three minutes left before the Lancers took over behind Abad, who had four points, two steals and an assist during that span.

Abad scored on a baseline floater that gave USC a 63-58 lead on a right baseline floater with 38.4 seconds left.
