Lady Chiefs rally past Lady Blazers

DRAWING strength from Menchie Tubiera, Arellano University edged College of St. Benilde, 29-31, 21-25, 25-18, 25-22, 23-21, yesterday to stay unscathed in the 90th NCAA women’s volleyball tournament at  Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Tubiera fired a career-high 35 hits, the bulk of which came in the last three sets when the Lady Chiefs, missing the services of stalwart CJ Rosario, came back from the dead to pull off their seventh straight victory.

St. Benilde got back at Arellano in men’s play, winning 25-18, 25-23, 19-25, 25-19, to tie its victim in third spot at 5-2.

In the juniors’ section, Arellano dumped La Salle Green Hills, 25-12, 25-18, 25-12, to improve to 3-3.
