Abueva fined, escapes suspension

Alaska’s Calvin Abueva escaped suspension but was fined P20,000 by the PBA commissioner’s office for hitting Rain Or Shine guard Jonathan Uyloan.

The rugged forward swung a forearm during the closing minutes of the Elasto Painters’ 98-91 win on Christmas Day at MOA Arena.

Abueva was ejected after being assessed with a flagrant foul penalty 2, triggering the collapse of the Aces that allowed Rain Or Shine to tie the series at 2-2.

“We stayed tough though they had the lead most of the way. We were also helped by the stupid move of Abueva,” said ROS head coach Yeng Guiao.

Game 5 of the best-of-seven series is set today, 5 p.m. at MOA Arena.
