San Sebastian tossers prevail in NCAA beach volley

MANILA, Philippines—San Sebastian College’s Gretchel Soltones and Camille Uy downed Mapua’s Camille de la Pena and Debbie Dultra, 21-11, 21-9, Wednesday to jumpstart their title-retention bid in the women’s division of the 90th NCAA beach volley tournament at the Boardwalk of Subic Bay.

“We had a hard time because it was our first match as partners and we didn’t have enough training on the sand court,” said Soltones.

Soltones, a 19-year-old Business Management student from Cebu, said they only had a month to prepare.

In men’s action, College of St.Benilde’s Marjun Alingssa and Johnvic de Guzman also won their opening match.
