Judiciary five presses UNTV Cup semis bid

/ 02:19 AM February 14, 2015

JUDICIARY tries to firm up its bid for an outright semifinal berth when it battles Bureau of Fire Protection tomorrow in the second round of the 3rd UNTV Cup at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Coming off a 102-79 drubbing of the Department of Justice Boosters, the Magis will be shooting for their sixth win in seven games in their 5 p.m. encounter with the Firefighters.

With Malacañang (4-1) and Philippine National Police (4-1) in Group A and defending champion Armed Forces of the Philippines (4-2) and Senate (3-2) in Group B just within striking distance, the Magis need to sweep their last two games to advance outright.
In the 2 p.m. opener, Malacañang hopes to get back on track when it faces Metro Manila Development Authority while Senate takes on DOJ at 3:30 p.m.

The top two teams after the second round will secure automatic Final Four berths while Nos. 3 and 4 will gain twice-to-beat privileges against the No. 6 and 5 teams, respectively, in the quarterfinals.

The Malacañang Patriots absorbed a 77-63 loss to the Senate Defenders last week.

The Firefighters are already out of the running with a 1-5 mark.
