Cruz fell awkwardly with her right knee bearing the brunt of the fall as her team was trailing 22-18 in the third set.

While the injuries puts Ateneo at an advantage, the Lady Eagles star Alyssa Valdez won’t rejoice in the misfortune of her opponents.

“We in the volleyball community is very sad for them,” Valdez said after they won game on Wednesday at Smart Araneta Coliseum. “Quality players are the ones dropping to injuries.”

Galang will be out for at least eight months after tearing both her ACL and MCL in her left knee in the semifinals matchup between La Salle and National University on Saturday.

“I know that the girls are strong and brave and they can comeback playing on the future games,” Valdez said. “It’s a challenge for them and I know they can do it.”
