MANILA, Philippines—Amaya Paz-Cojuangco captured two gold medals and a silver for the Philippines in the 2015 Asian Archery Cup in Bangkok recently.

Cojuangco, a  Southeast Asian Games double gold medalist, combined with rookie Andrea Robles and Olym-pian Jennifer Chan to nip India’s Sur-ekha Vennam, Purvasha Shende and Genung Tekseng, 224-223, for the women’s compound team title.

Cojuangco earlier teamed up with Jeff Adriano to seize the country’s first gold in the mixed team event over a pair from  China, 151-142, in the world ranking tournament, more popularly known as the Asian Grand Prix.

“I’m confident that we will perform well in the SEA Games,’’ said Cojuangco, who led the Philippine compound squad that finished third behind powerhouses United States and Russia in the 2006 World Cup in China.

“As for the world championships, we’re hoping to reach that level again in the coming years with new blood in the team,” she added.

Archery chief Fred Moreno said they are also looking forward to two Olympic qualifiers this year—the world championships in Denmark in July and the continental championships in Bangkok in November.
