MANILA, Philippines—Annalie Benjamen pitched Adamson to a 6-0 shutout of University of the Philippines Tuesday that moved the Lady Falcons within a win of a fifth straight UAAP softball championship at Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium

Benjamen, last season’s Most Valuable Player, struck out 12 batters and gave up only two hits to lead the amazing, still undefeated Lady Falcons in taking full command of the seven-inning Game 1.

“I reminded them not to think that even if we have the thrice-to-beat advantage, it’s a sure win,” coach Ana Santiago said of her Lady Falcons, who earned the bonus—a virtual 1-0 edge in a best-of-five series—after sweeping the eliminations.
