Malayan, NU bomb Freego foes

NATIONAL University and Malayan High School scored a pair of lopsided wins in the 8th Smart-PCABL (Philippine Chinese Amateur Basketball League) Freego Cup over the weekend at Philippine Buddhacare Academy gym in Quezon City.

The NU Bullpups leaned on a torrid second quarter shooting to down the Adamson Baby Falcons, 88-68, in Group B, while the Malayan Red Robins walloped University of the East Junior Warriors, 93-43.

John Clemente had 25 points, eight rebounds and three assists for NU to emerge Freego Player of the Game.

Jasper Salenga led Malayan’s attack by knocking down 14 points and grabbing six boards.

Other Group B winners were Jose Rizal U which survived Hope Christian High School, 62-60, and University of Santo Tomas, which pulled off an 88-80 win over Lyceum.
