Roger Mayweather wants Floyd to beat Marciano’s 49-0 record
LAS VEGAS — Floyd Mayweather Jr. is at the point of his career where he’s closer to his retirement than his debut.
Mayweather, 38, only has one more fight left in his record-breaking contract with Showtime after his showdown with Manny Pacquiao on Saturday. Right on cue, he had reportedly said he will make one final appearance in the ring some time in September of this year.
His trainer and uncle Roger, however, has other plans in mind for the five-division world champion.
“I’d like to see Floyd beat Rocky Marciano’s record,” Roger told The Telegraph. “And I know he can.”

Marciano was a former heavyweight champion and is considered one of the greatest ever in the division, who retired at a young age of 31 with a flawless record of 49-0 with 43 knockouts and not a single draw. Marciano died in a plane crash in 1969.
At 47-0, Mayweather, the current WBA and WBC welterweight champion, is on the right track in breaking or at least duplicating the great Marciano’s feat.
The pound-for-pound king, though, has to go through Pacquiao first.
