Another exciting week is in store for jungolfers when they compete in a new leg of the summer tour, the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines Chairman’s Cup Challenge, in two Ayala courses, starting Tuesday.

The tournament, held in honor of JGFP’s longtime patron and chair Gerry Handog, fires off with the stroke-play qualifying today at Ayala Greenfield course in Calamba, Laguna, with about 80 juniors seeing action.

The top 64 players will then advance to the match play phase of the event for the next three days at the hazard-laden Ayala South Links course in Las Piñas.

Handog is hosting the event through his group of companies—Cleanpak, Inc., IWSI, IWS Cleantech, Inc.—with the support of International Container Terminal Services, Inc., Philippine Airlines and the Philippine Golf Foundation.

“Gerry has always been known for his concern for jungolf and this event is just an extension of his support,” said JGFP president Luigi Tabuena.

Carl Corpus and Jolo Magcalayo, two of the big winners this summer after topping their respective brackets in the Philippine Airlines Junior World qualifier, head the entries for the unisex play, although girls tee off from the red boxes and the boys from the white.
