/ 04:32 PM June 16, 2015

For the first time, the PBA is now requiring all players to pass through the PBA Developmental League before they can apply for the 2015 PBA Rookie Draft.

Local-born players need to play at least seven games in the D-League for them to be eligible in the annual rookie selection.

That has been the decree handed down by the PBA as it open its doors to applicants for the 2015 PBA Rookie Draft.

Aspirants must be at least 21 years of age to be eligible for the Draft. Likewise, graduates who have yet to turn 21 can also pass their applications.
Local-born players must submit pass their documents until August 7.

Meanwhile, Fil-foreign applicants should submit their application and all other documentary requirements, including those proving their citizenship, until June 30. They must also have played at least seven games in each of the two D-League conferences.

“I’ve seen a lot of new talents in the D-League so I’m pretty sure that the coming PBA season will be a lot more exciting,” said PBA commissioner and incoming president Chito Salud. “I think by this time, some PBA teams have already identified their prospects.”

PBA teams will secure the preliminary list of prospective Fil-foreign draftees for screening on July 6. Contestability period will be from July 7 to August 6.

The final list of players eligible for draft will be on August 20, three days before the 2015 PBA Rookie Draft at Robinson’s Place in Ermita, Manila on August 23. CFC
