Yeng Guiao admits difficulty breaking Beermen zone

Yeng Guiao’s Rain or Shine were enjoying a 43-19 first quarter as the bright lights of Smart Araneta Coliseum shone upon them.

The Elastopiners had their offense working, their defense was stifling and everything looked bleak for San Miguel.

Then the Beermen turned to the zone and the Elasto Painters suddenly forgot their stroke.

“We weren’t able to break down their zone with our threes,” Guiao said after losing to San Miguel 101-95 Thursday in their best-of-five Governors’ Cup semifinals series.

“If we made two or three more threes, we could have slowed them down.”

Rain or Shine had 11 made three-pointers in 45 attempts, resulting to a poor 24 percent clip.

Guiao added even if they built a massive lead ar the start, the series would come down to the last few minutes of every game.

“We made mistakes in the end game,” Guiao said. “We will make adjustments especially against the zone.” CFC
