Pacquiao dangles P5M to first Filipino gold medalist in Olympics

The first Filipino gold medalist in Rio de Janeiro Olympics next year will also get a P5 million reward.

The Saranggani representative and world boxing superstar made his pledge last night after turning over his memorabilia to the Philippine Sports Museum.

“Ang pledge ko pag next year may nag-gold, limang milyon, kahit sino, kahit anong sport (I pledge P5 million to whoever wins a gold),” said Pacquiao.

The deal, according to him, is for the first gold medalist. “Siguro makaka-gold na tayo, (I hope we can finally get that gold),”  he added.

Another P5 million incentive for the Olympic gold winner has already been approved under RA 9064.

The country has two Olympic silver medals so far through boxers Mansueto “Onyok” Velasco and Anthony Villanueva. CFC
