In a report on Spin.ph, it was no less than San Miguel Corp. President and COO Ramon S. Ang who confirmed the development, saying that the American coach will be getting the memo of his new designation as the new chief tactician for the Gin Kings when he arrives from the US on Tuesday.

“Yes, Tim Cone is moving to Ginebra,” Ang said in the report.

Cone is inheriting a Ginebra squad in a midst of an eight-year title drought, last winning a championship in the 2008 Fiesta Conference.

Alongside Cone, Richard del Rosario will also be sent to the Ginebra coaching staff.

Taking over for the vacant Star head coaching job is Jason Webb, who Cone absorbed to his coaching staff before the 2014 Governors’ Cup when his then-lead deputy Jeffrey Cariaso and another assistant in Olsen Racela were placed in the Gin Kings bench.
