Shell chess finals set Sept. 19
NCR leg winners Marc Labog, Julius Gonzales and Jerome Aragones banner a 48-player field in the 2015 Shell National Youth Active Chess Championship national finals slated Sept. 19 and 20 at SM Megamall in Mandaluyong.
Seniors champion Labog and runners-up McDominique Lagula and Antonio Almodal will face the other top finishers of the Visayas, Northern and Southern Mindanao and Southern Luzon legs. Gonzales is the juniors winner and Aragones the kiddies’ level topnotcher.
Only NCR has three finalists in each category while the rest of the regional legs are sending only the top two. Shell has been staging the tournament for Filipino students under 20 years old since 1992.
