LONDON — Andy Murray says he will donate 50 pounds ($78) for every ace he hits from now until the end of the year to help the cause of refugees.

Murray, who is playing for Britain in this week’s Davis Cup semifinals against Australia in Glasgow, decided on the idea after seeing images of migrants coming to Europe on the news.

His donations will be matched by one of his sponsors, along with the Association of Tennis Professionals and the Lawn Tennis Association, making each ace worth 200 pounds ($311).

Murray says: “I felt I had to do something to help the millions of children and their families who have been forced to flee their homes” and that “I’ll get that little bit more satisfaction from each ace I hit.”
