Albo, Gonzales sweep badminton foes

JEWEL Angelo Albo of Team JB Babolat and Anthea Marie Gonzales of Team JB swept their age classes to top the National Finals of the 2nd Sun Cellular National Juniors badminton tournament at JCentre Mall in Mandaue City, Cebu over the weekend.

Albo routed Clarence Villaflor of Jaguar Badminton Academy, 21-7, 21-11, and Nestojan Carido Tapales of Whackers Badminton Academy, 21-11, 21-11, top the boys’ singles of the under-13 division.

Gonzales then slammed Katrina Mae Consing, also of Jaguar Academy, 21-10, 21-10, and then smashed Lady Zazhca Tuario of Metro Kidapawan Badminton, 21-16, 21-8, to rule the U-13 girls’ singles.

Mark Shelley Alcala of Allied-NVBA waylaid Jaguar Academy’s John Mark Valenzuela, 21-10, 21-8, to rule the boys’ singles U-17.

OTHER WINNERS: Karylle Kaye Baguio Molina-Jennifer Helyn Saladaga, U-15 girls’ doubles; Cody Dumancas Torres-Anne Lorraine Cario, U-17 mixed doubles
