After shedding unwanted fat, lifter Hidilyn Diaz is now six kilograms away from seeing action in her third Olympics.

The two-time Olympian aims to finally meet the standard in the IWF World Weightlifting Championship 2015 in Houston, Texas, two months from now.

“It depends on the participants in the tournament. To be sure, I have to finish in the top five,” said Diaz, who moved down to a competitive form of 53 kg from a flabby physique of 58 kg.

The 24-year-old from Zamboanga City should lift a combined weight of 220 kg in the snatch and clean and jerk events to surpass the silver- and bronze-medal standards in the 2012 London Olympics.

Hsu Shu-ching of Chinese Taipei got the silver in London after lifting a total of 219 kg in the women’s 53 kg, the same output of Moldova’s Cristina Iovu in bagging the bronze.

Should Diaz miss the mark in Houston, she’ll have a final shot at the Olympics in the Asian championship in April next year in Uzbekistan.
