NU stays unbeaten in UAAP men’s volleyball

National University stayed unscathed while University of the Philippines picked up its first win in the UAAP Season 78 men’s volleyball tournament Sunday at San Juan Arena.

The Bulldogs swept the Green Spikers, 25-23, 25-23, 25-20, to go 2-0 while the Fighting Maroons trumped the Golden Spikers, 25-17, 22-25, 25-19, 25-21, for their first victory in two outings.

James Natividad led NU with 14 points while Kim Malabunga and Bryan Bagunas put up 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Wendel Miguel torched UST with 22 points while John Mark Millete added 15.

Arnold Bautista paced UST with 20 points but it wasn’t enough to give the Golden Spikers their first win of the season.

UP also feasted on UST’s mistakes as it got a big boost from the Golden Spikers’ 40 errors. In comparison, the Maroons only had 22 miscues.

NU, last year’s losing finalist, joined defending champion Ateneo as the only undefeated teams left after just a couple of games into the season.
