UAAP Volleyball: UP stuns Ateneo in four sets

University of the Philippines has made great strides in UAAP Season 78.

The latest proof  is the Lady Maroons’ 19-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-22 stunning of  defending champion Ateneo Sunday at the Arena in San Juan.

Isa Molde, a top candidate for the Rookie of the Year honors, showed Alyssa Valdez and company the door as she led UP to its fifth win so far.

Molde finished with a team-best 15 points while 12 markers apiece came from Nicole Tiamzon, who scored it all from kills, and Diana Carlos, who had three blocks and two aces.

The Lady Maroons solidified their hold of the third place while sending the Lady Eagles to their second straight setback.

Alyssa Valdez paced Ateneo, which dropped to 6-2 after losses to La Salle and UP, with 19 points while Jhoana Maraguinot added 15 in a losing effort.
