Women’s Basketball League: Poveda, UST nail 3rd wins

MANILA, Philippines—University of Santo Tomas and St. Pedro Poveda College nailed their third straight wins over the weekend in the Milo-sponsored 24th Women’s Basketball League, organized by Best Center, at the Xavier School gym.

The Tigresses spoiled the debut of Assumption College, 53-34, to stay unscathed in the premier 15-Under Group A category.

Don Bosco Technical College (1-1) blasted University of the Philippines-Los Baños (0-2) in the other game.
In the 13-under games, St. Pedro Poveda was unrelenting in its 26-22 triumph over Assumption-Antipolo (0-1) to also rise to 3-0.

Miriam College (1-1) demolished Raises Montessori (0-3), 48-3, in the other match.

FEATURED STORIES

Another Miriam College team razed PWU-JASMS (0-3), 62-18, on its debut in the 17-under Developmental A class. It is now tied at second place with St. Scholastica’s-Westgrove, and behind leader Colegio de Sta. Rosa (2-0).

In the 17-under Developmental B contests, leader St. Bridget’s School (2-0) smothered Child Jesus of Prague (0-3), 65-19, while St. Pedro Poveda (2-1) clobbered St. Theresa’s College (0-1), 29-18.

The lone 17-under Competitive Division match saw De La Salle-Zobel (1-0) rout Colegio San Agustin (1-1), 50-14.

The Best Center makes a stop in Roxas City on Oct. 23 and 24 for the regional finals of the Small Basketeers Philippines-Passerelle.
