Perpetual Help upheld its reputation with a record ninth NCAA cheerleading crown in 12 seasons Tuesday night at Mall of Asia Arena, but the Perps Squad isn’t resting on its laurels and has set its sights on another title next year.

This early, Perpetual Help coach Ruf Rosario is already plotting the Perps’ run next season, stressing that the team will work even harder to preserve the school’s winning tradition.

Rosario said the preparation next season will include participation in an international competition.

“We will strive for more but we will keep our feet on the ground,” he said. “We are planning to compete abroad again and make not just Perpetual Help but the whole NCAA proud.”

The Perps regained the title won last season by Arellano U with an almost flawless performance, collecting 195 points from the judges, two better than Arellano U which was relegated to second spot.

“We prepared really hard physically and mentally because our loss last year was really painful,” said Perpetual Help team captain Mark Espinas.

“The loss last year was an inspiration and we made sure our flaws were never repeated this year.”

It was Perpetual Help’s third NCAA championship this season after topping the men’s and juniors volleyball.

“It’s a proud accomplishment by the school,” said Perpetual Help policy board member Anthony Tamayo.
