Lady Tams gain semis

UNFLINCHING in the endgame, Far Eastern University overcame five match points to get past Adamson, 25-23, 25-22, 20-25, 28-26, and advance to the Final Four of the UAAP women’s volleyball yesterday at Filoil Flying V Center.

The Lady Tamaraws pulled off the incredible comeback from a 21-24 deficit in the extended fourth set where Bernadeth Pons (19 points), Jerrili Malabanan (11) and Remy Palma (10) shone.

“I told them not to think about our last game against Adamson,” FEU coach Shaq delos Santos said of his Lady Tamaraws, who blew a two-set advantage in their first-round loss to the Lady Falcons.

The Lady Tamaraws rallied from a 21-24 deficit behind hits from Pons and Palma, before surviving match point again twice.

Another Pons attack and a Malabanan ace wrapped up the thrilling triumph that sealed the third spot for FEU (9-5), behind leaders Ateneo (11-2) and La Salle (10-2).
