Gilas flies to Turkey for first tuneup game

GILAS Pilipinas wound up a backbreaking nine-day camp in Greece on Sunday and flew to Turkey for the first of five tuneup matches leading to its stint in the Manila Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

The Philippines will try to top the qualifier, set July 5 to 10 at Mall of Asia Arena, and return to the Olympics for the first time since 1972.

The Filipinos will be playing the Turkish national team on Tuesday before flying to Bologna, Italy, for a pocket tournament against China, Canada and Italy. Musong R. Castillo
