Generika downs Cignal; Navy scores

GENERIKA frustrated hardluck Cignal even as Standard Insurance-Navy picked up an easy win over Amy’s Kitchen-Perpetual Sunday night in the Philippine Superliga All Filipino Conference at Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan City.

The Lifesavers played like they still had a shot at the title, beating the HD Spikers, 20-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-22, to bolster their bid to land the fifth place in Group B of competition.

The Corvettes hardly broke a sweat against the Amy’s Spikers in scoring a 25-17, 25-9, 25-14 victory in the opening game.

“We needed that win,” said Generika coach Rosemarie Prochina. “It’s for the players, to boost their morale and for the team owners to get convinced to continue backing us up.”
