Stalzer, Usher join Foton for AVC Club C’ships

TOP CALIBER American imports Lindsay Stalzer and Ariel Usher hit the ground running with local teammates at Foton Pilipinas.
The Tornadoes will fly to Bangkok for training and friendlies next week in preparation for the Asian Volleyball Confederation Women’s Club Championships.
Stalzer, the 2015 Philippine Superliga Grand Prix Most Valuable Player while playing for Foton, arrived over the weekend and has had two practice sessions.
The all-around spiker is psyched up to help the Philippine campaign in the AVC Clubs slated Sept. 3 to 11 in Biñan City.
Usher planed in last Tuesday and is set to join team practice today at University of Santo Tomas gym in Manila.
The power-hitting Usher played for Cignal during last year’s PSL Grand Prix.
They will leave for the Thai capital on Sunday to train and play tune-up matches with several clubs, including LienViet Post Bank of Vietnam.
The slot in the Bangkok training camp was supposedly for Jakarta Electric but was handed to Foton Pilipinas at the last minute.
Foton coach Vilet Ponce de Leon will try to help her team move on following its narrow defeat to F2 Logistics in the recent PSL All Filipino Conference finals.
