For a high octane team like Phoenix, firing 93 points against Blackwater on Wednesday is already the team’s lowest production in all of its wins.

But it’s the least of Eugene Phelps’ concerns as long as the Fuel Masters come away with the win.

“It really doesn’t matter. We won,” he said after the team’s 93-81 victory over the Elite at Ynares Center in Antipolo. “The score could be 10-9, but as long as we get the win, that’s what matters.”

Personally, Phelps also saw his lowest production in a half with eight, but eventually picked up the slack and finished with 29 points, 26 rebounds, and four assists in the win.

“We started playing sluggish, but it doesn’t really matter. We got the win,” he said.

With Phelps leading the fort, coach Ariel Vanguardia’s Fuel Masters have now won their third straight and got four of their last five outings.

And the import at the forefront of this stretch could only laud the whole team for their tremendous effort as they improved to 5-4 at solo fifth place.

“We’ve just been having a good week of practice. Lately, we’ve been coming as a team. We just play hard at practice and convert it to the games,” he said.

The 26-year-old big man, though, admits that the grind is slowly taking a toll on him. But he’s been getting a lot of back-up from the locals like Cyrus Baguio, Simon Enciso, and, in this game against the Elite, Mark Borboran.

“I got great teammates and I believe in them. If I see them wide open, I’m going to give them the ball. If I get a one-on-one situation, I’m going to attack the basket,” he said.
