Caduyac at forefront of Pirates’ future

With Lyceum already out of Final Four contention, head coach Topex Robinson has shifted his focus on building for the future.

And as far as Robinson is concerned, a big part of the Pirates’ future is Reymar Caduyac.

“He’s bound to make mistakes. He’s only 19. I told you I was preparing for next season, he’s pretty much part of what we’re looking ahead,” Robinson said.

“We try to give him as many games this close just to prepare him, just to sharpen him, more or less the experience will help him. The way he played against San Beda is a picture of what he could give us,” added Robinson.

Caduyac has been one of the few bright spots in what has been a gloomy season for Lyceum.

And on Tuesday, the rookie guard reminded Robinson and the rest of Lyceum faithfuls of how the next season could look like after leading the Pirates’ 64-61 upset of University of Perpetual Help.

“Sobrang saya lang kasi binigyan lang ako ng kumpyansa ni coach. Sinabi niya kung anong gusto niyang mangyari sa team, binbigay ko lang talaga lahat,” said Caduyac.

The Bukidnon native scored nine of his team-high 15 points, four days after his career performance 27 points in a loss to San Beda.
