University of Santo Tomas hopes to bounce back from a stinging defeat when it takes on Laoag even as Coast Guard attempts to move out of a rut battling Air Force today in the Shakey’s V-League Reinforced Conference at Philsports Arena.

The Tigresses were stymied in their attempt to make the semifinals after losing to Bureau of Customs last week.

But that defeat is expected to fire up UST as coach Emilio “Kungfu” Reyes said they are out to get back in winning form.

At 4-1, UST can automatically make the semifinals with a win over the Power Smashers, who are smarting from a defeat at the hands of University of the Philippines last Monday.

Cherry Rondina came back after her triumphant stint in the UAAP beach volleyball, but she still had to adjust playing in indoor conditions.

Coast Guard will try to avert sinking further when it battles Air Force, which is equally in dire straits.

Another defeat would eliminate Coast Guard, while Air Force needs a win to fire up its chances of making the next round.
