LA Tenorio came into Game 6 thinking it will be the last in what has been a championship series for the ages.

The veteran Ginebra point guard couldn’t afford playing in a Game 7 and end up missing the birth of his third child.

“Nasa isip ko lang talaga I don’t want to play Game 7 kasi yung baby ko lalabas na bukas. Ayoko na isipin yun. Kung magkaroon ng Game 7 iisipin ko pa na my wife and baby are in the hospital,” Tenorio said.

Tenorio made sure there won’t be another game and led the Gin Kings to their first championship in eight years after a 91-88 win over the Meralco Bolts.

Tenorio scored 21 points in the second half after tallying just four in the first two quarters where the Bolts took a 45-32 lead.

The 32-year-old Tenorio teamed up with import Justin Brownlee in the pivotal third quarter as the two combined for 24 points, outscoring the entire Meralco team. Brownlee wound up winning it for the Kings with a buzzer-beating 3-pointer from the top of the key.

“Yun talaga yung motivation sakin. Ginawa ko best ko for us to win. Maganda rin nagrespond teammates ko. everyone contribute dsa run na yun. Thank you lord we won this game.”
